Harlem, 1948

Hotel Theresa

Seventh Avenue at 125th Street. The 1948 Green Book lists it under Harlem hotels: "Theresa—125th St. & 7th Ave." Its own ads ran in Black papers far from New York.

The building is reconstructed from the city's 1993 landmark report and these period ads. No photograph of its 1940s rooms has turned up that we can reuse, so we stay outside, on the corner.

  • From the 1940 and 1948 ad drawings
  • From documents: the 1993 landmark report
  • Our guess

Drag to look around. The lit doors and windows open what the papers said.
